Shepherds for Science

The novel is set in a future where humanity has expanded into space and colonized other planets. Earth is facing a crisis due to overpopulation and dwindling resources prompting scientists to search for new solutions to sustain human civilization. The story follows a group of scientists who have developed a radical plan to address Earth's problems: they propose to genetically engineer a new species of human known as shepherds to serve as caretakers for the planet. These shepherds are designed to possess enhanced intelligence physical strength and longevity making them ideally suited for the task of stewarding Earth's ecosystems. The narrative focuses on the creation and development of the shepherd species as well as the ethical and moral questions raised by their existence. As the shepherds begin to fulfill their role as custodians of the planet they face resistance and opposition from various factions who fear the consequences of tampering with nature.
