<p>Shiva Sutras an important text of the Trika Shaivism. Kashmir Shaivite tradition focuses on Pratyabhijna which means recognition through direct realization. One story says that Shiva appeared to Acharya Vasu Gupta in his dream and recited it to him and he had written it down. Vasu Gupta also wrote the Spanda Karikas as a commentary on the Shiva Sutras. It elaborates three Upayas or means to attain the Shaiva consciousness by an aspirant. This book is an exposition on the aphorisms encapsuled under the three Upayas of Acharya Vasu Gupta&rsquo;s &ldquo;Shiva Sutras&rdquo;.</p>
