Shri Rama-Charitam

Shri Rama-Charitam is a critical analysis of Rama based on the Sanskrit Text of Valmiki Ramayana questioning the validity of awarding Godship Status on Rama tagging him as “Maryada-Purusottama” and his “Ramarajya” being seen as an ideal welfare state. Absurdity of some stories to qualify Rama as a great warrior or a man of good ethics or as a man of fore-site- has become questionable. Rama’s physical assaults on women his public humiliation of own wife- with charges of infidelity his secret operation of killing own pregnant wife by abandoning her in the dense forest brought him to the level of lowest category of criminals. His killing of Shudra Saint “Shambuka” by own sword his firing Vramastra on Rajasthan to kill the Abhira-Yadavas and making their land sandy dry and unfertile- on the ground of their being born in lower social structure- lowered his humanity . His killing himself by drowning in the water of Sarayu River along with his brothers and general public of Ayodhya was a horror-filled end of a Hindu-God still worshipped .
