Si Klegg Book 1

The novel follows the protagonist Si Klegg a young and enthusiastic farmer who enlists in the Union Army. Eager to serve his country and experience the adventure of military life Si soon finds that the realities of war are far more challenging and complex than he had imagined. The story is episodic detailing Si’s journey from a naive recruit to a seasoned soldier. Throughout the book Si encounters various hardships including the rigors of training the monotony and danger of camp life and the chaos of battle. He is joined by his loyal friend and fellow soldier Shorty and together they navigate the trials of war providing mutual support and comic relief.
