In the city of Savathi they hear the teachings of the Buddha Gotama. While Govinda chooses to follow the Enlightened One Siddhartha continues his own path. He later meets the famed courtesan Kamala in the city and plunges into a life of sensual pleasure and material pursuit until all worldly joys turn to dust. Disgusted and empty he abandons everything again and resolves to end his life.
