<p>SILAS BARNUM CHATFIELD the son of Levi and Sarah Runnels Chatfield moved with his parents from New Milford Connecticut to Otselic Chenango County New York when he was a young boy. Silas an orphan at the age of ten was bound to a nearby farmer until Silas turned eighteen. Silas traveled for a few years until finally settling in Troy Walworth County Wisconsin. Silas married twice prospered as a farmer and mill owner built a large farmhouse and raised a large family. The farmhouse that Silas Chatfield built in 1879 still stands today and many of his descendants still live in the area.</p>
