When Ned Nolan crashes off a mountain road in Northern California he is found by a mountain man who introduced him to Eastern spirituality just as his girlfrind meets a Swami in San Francisco. They find their lives changed by the potent mystical teaching. There is some wild 1930s sexual antics introduced by Millies girlfriend. As the story unfolds Ned suffers some racing mishaps and is saved on various occasions by a helpful animal that just happens to intervene. He finally succeeds in beating some of the European teams and then goes off to WW II. Along with enlightenment the story introduces an element of reincarnation towards the end. Sex love and enlightenment as as American hot rodder beats the Europeans!
