About The Book

Shankar Prasad was born on 30 January 1890 at Sarai gowardhan Varanasi. Jaishankar Prasad had his initial education in Varanasi after which his education was managed at home where he studied Sanskrit Hindi Urdu and Persian. He was honored with Hindi poet playwright novelist and many such titles. He died in Varanasi on 15 November 1937 due to tuberculosis. This play is about politics bravery and the power to govern. It describes the life span of the last emperor of the Gupta dynasty king Chandragupta who was a proud patriotic ruler. Songs and soliloquy are an intrinsic part of the play which helps connect the intense tragedy of the rulers private life with his great success in the public domain.
