Bókin inniheldur fjölbreytt úrval greina og ritgerða sem varpa ljósi á íslenskar bókmenntir og menningarsögu. <i>Skírnir</i> er mikilvæg heimild fyrir alla sem hafa áhuga á íslenskum bókmenntum sögu og menningu og veitir einstaka innsýn í þróun íslenskrar hugsunar og listsköpunar.
