Slaying the Jabberwock is a character driven novel-to the point that I feel they wrote the book and I came along for the laughs and the privilege of sharing their experiences. There were many times I confidently sat down at the computer knowing exactly what was supposed to happen and ended up being totally wrong and thoroughly upstaged by the actions antics and ambitions of people so real I expected them to walk in my door and swap stories with me. They did however allow me to edit or at least they let me think I did. They made me react to them and taught me about themselves through both their despairs and triumphs. But mostly they entertained me made me laugh and want to know more about them which explains why there are two more books in the works: Taming the Muse and Seeking Rigoletto. Ive been writing tales about fictional people I would like to know in physical reality since I was a child. They live in my mind but relate to the world in their own peculiar ways. As for genre I dont think about it much. If pressed to come up with a description for this novel I would call it psychological fiction about good families coping with life and love. Theres a lot of tongue-in-cheek narrative as well as very human misinterpretations and imagined assumptions that make the characters feel real in a story that runs the gamut from disastrous to hilarious. The only writing style I lay claim to is that of an observant and all-seeing narrator who says: Meet my people and let them tell you their stories...
