Smart Growth fighting against Sprawl

Smart growth planning cannot be restricted to a certain set of policies. Rather smart growth is a planning style or a planning philosophy that responds to and attempts to correct the problems caused by previous sprawling patterns of development and that attempts to prevent the continuation of sprawling development. Smart growth is an effort through the use of public and private subsidies to create a supportive environment for refocusing a share of regional growth within central cities and inner suburbs.
