Smart Materials : : An industrial perspective

Smart materials enable us to develop new advanced technologies and innovative chemical methodologies by activating its functions. They will enhance the specific material properties in order to invent new materials and improve the performance of existing materials. Thin films and nano layers (LbL membranes and PEM’s) can be crafted as smart materials with an ability to reversibly respond to stimuli from internal and external environments by changing their properties as solutions for many industrial needs. Smart catalysts are required for a variety of industrial applications and researchers are increasingly challenged to find cost effective and eco benign catalysts to apply.
