The incorporation of Smartphone tablets into the academic curriculum of trtiary students as an academic study tool is an emerging trend in Nigeria. This study hence sets to find out its effect on academic performance among higher learning students. A total of 91 respondents were surveyed vial a structured questionnaire while descriptive statistics and logit regression model are employed in data analysis. Result shows that the average age of most (60.4%) respondents is between 20-23 years and about 50.6% of the respondents are males while 49.5% are females. Also most respondents (89%) uses smartphone for both social and Academic purposes while whatsapp was found to be mostly (70%) used social networking platform with the majority of 40% and 94.51% respectively spending about 3-5 hours and 5-7 hours on social networking and study daily. Furthermore most of the respondents (45%) has CGPA ranging between 2.4-3.4 and also uses tablet for both purposes. Average time spent on studying daily was positive and significant at (p<0.05) while Primary usage and Level of study were positive and found to be significant at (p<0.1).
