Smoke Up is a novel by American author Bradford Lyman Ford published in 1903. Set in the early 20th century the story follows the adventures of a group of young men who spend their days smoking and drinking in a New York City club. The main character Jack is a wealthy young man who is bored with his privileged life and seeks excitement through his reckless behavior. Along with his friends he becomes involved in various escapades including a high-stakes poker game and a dangerous encounter with a gang of criminals. As the group's antics become increasingly dangerous Jack begins to question his choices and the direction of his life. The novel explores themes of privilege masculinity and the consequences of reckless behavior.
