Scherer grew up in South Florida where she spent much of her childhood exploring the outdoors. Many animals were part of her everyday life at the beach: crabs seagulls pelicans turtles and fish; and in the country: horses dogs cats chickens possums bunnies and squirrels. Her love of nature led her to study biology and zoology in college and that passion continues to inspire her today. Her stories are about the animals she came to know and love in her childhood. They are also reminiscent of the beloved bedtime stories told to her by her father.  </span></p><p></p><p></p><p></p>
