Social responsibility of higher education institutions

Based on a study of the opinions and values of university representatives on social responsibility issues the current state of Kazakhstani practice in this area has been identified. A survey and analysis of university development programs revealed that social responsibility is not currently considered as high a priority as for example the development of breakthrough scientific research. However despite the fact that social work is not based on clearly defined tasks for the implementation of the social function of universities it is widely carried out by Kazakhstani universities.
