SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF LATIN AMERICAN UNIVERSITIES

University social responsibility (USR) is important because of its impact on society. It should be part of Latin American university strategies and be protagonists of social improvement. Current university management should not neglect USR. Several Latin American networks and associations have emerged to promote USR so greater integration of public and private universities is recommended in order to create synergies. In each Latin American country analyzed some universities stand out as leaders in USR and should be imitated due to the positive results they are achieving. It is recommended to raise awareness and train teaching and administrative staff in USR in order to achieve greater social commitment.
