Organized by Franci Gomes Cardoso this book deepens the reflection on the labor market of social workers in Brazil with reference to assumptions articulated in the research Tendencies of the Insertion of Social Workers in the Labor Market and the Question of Professional Identity in Maranhão. Based on these assumptions analyses and debates in seminars of the researchers/authors the book articulates in two sections historical-theoretical foundations about the labor market of social workers in Brazil. In the first section it outlines the foundations of the reflection of the authors in three fields: labor process and valorization process in capitalism; development and crises of the Fordist-Taylorist standard of production; labor and labor market in contemporary capitalism in Brazil. In the second section it exposes historical determinations of the conditions of insertion of the social worker in the Brazilian labor market. In the conclusion it synthesizes the essence of the thematic axes problematized and reaffirms the guiding premises of the study with emphasis on the conditions of insertion of Assistants in the labor market in Brazil in the period between 1990 - 2010.
