Socio-environmental Function

About The Book

This book is an interdisciplinary study that addresses the socio-environmental aspects of issues associated with land use and socio-biodiversity conservation from the perspective of political ecology and environmental sociology. In particular it focuses on modern biotechnology and law. More specifically it seeks to analyze the protection of genetically modified plants through patent rights as opposed to the obligation to fulfill a socio-environmental function. Based on the theory of abyssal lines proposed by Boaventura de Sousa Santos it seeks to deepen the socio-environmental issues related to modern biotechnology. It was verified whether socio-environmental aspects are considered together by legislation and what the implications of this relationship are.
