The purpose of the study was to investigate the influence of parental socioeconomic status on academic performance in secondary schools in Borama district. Parental socioeconomic status is a major influence on academic performance of students. An academic performance of students in secondary schools in Borama district was still low. The objectives of the study were: to establish the influence of parental income on the academic performance of the student the influence of parental education the influence of parental occupation and determine the influence of parental wealth on the academic performance of students. Based on Walberg Theory of Educational Productivity the study used a cross-sectional survey research design using proportionate stratified and purposive sampling with a sample size of 365 from a population of 6200 of students and their parents.
