Social-emotional education is a fundamental component for the comprehensive education of children adolescents and young people. In the year 2020 with the advance of the pandemic the educational system underwent a drastic change moving from a face-to-face to a virtual modality. This transformation had a significant impact on the emotional state of teachers students and families. Despite the interest shown by international organizations as evidenced by the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals particularly with regard to educational quality and the visible efforts of Ecuadorian educational policy significant challenges persist in this area. In this context an exploratory study conducted with high school students of the Educational Unit x showed inadequate behaviors in the management of emotions especially in difficult situations or conflicts that arose during the pandemic.
