Sociolinguistic diagnosis of a language of many

About The Book

The text highlights the analysis of the linguistic attitudes of the Wayuu belonging to the community of Majayura (La Guajira) in Colombia towards their own language. Throughout the text the determination of the individual attitudes of the speakers based on their beliefs; their linguistic preferences in different communication contexts; and the feelings and emotions expressed by the speakers in relation to the use of their own language are presented. The theoretical foundation of the project has been validated in proposals that were born within social psychology and later adopted by sociolinguistics with the authors: Eagly and Chaiken (1993); Baker (1992); Blas Arroyo (2004); Mann (2002); among others. This study opted for the multicomponential mentalistic model validated by Moreno (1998) Bouchard Howard Giles and Richard Sebastian (2000) and Makuc (2011) which allows analyzing the cognitive emotional and conative-behavioral factors of linguistic attitudes. This is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach based on the ethnographic method and the direct method for the analysis of attitudes.
