Sociology in the Maghreb is a recent discipline. It was born at the very end of the colonial period and then developed prodigiously after the political independence to be present now in all universities. Today it is going through a serious crisis which makes it necessary to professionalise researchers methods and theories. In these areas it participates in the global debates that are shaking the discipline.
