SOIL MECHANICS

Soil mechanics is the science of studying the physical and mechanical properties of the soil the mechanical processes occurring in the soil under the influence of external as well as internal effects thereby finding out the properties and regulations of the soil to address the problem of using soil for the purposes of construction buildings.Soil plays an important role in construction. Firstly construction materials include construction sand; soil materials for floor leveling of houses roads airports storage yards and similar structures; soil materials for construction of dykes slopes dams and similar structures. Secondly the foundation for construction works. Therefore it is necessary to determine the load-bearing capacity and the deformation of the ground. To solve those problems it has relied on research results of the theory of Soil Mechanics.
