Thomas Harris was the soldiers soldier and was awarded a battlefield commission by General George Washington just before the Battle of Yorktown. After his release from his military obligations and suffering severe hardships Harris and his family moved westward from Connecticut across New York State. As in the first book of the Lineage series the author laid down his own family tree against events in history as if family members of the period could have participated.
