Someone who is loved is never lost. : a tribute to Dr. Smarajit Patnaik.

We used to fondly call him ‘Mala’ the wrestler because of his fluffy-built during school days. The built changed but the name remained. He was the one who used to spin the direction of discussion in the group and his opinion mattered much. He was the epicenter. In any debate his would be one last opinion which would be agreed by all without a pinch of doubt. Probably something to do with his persona – being able to convince the other without much effort.No one is born to live forever. Everyone will vanish into nothingness today or tomorrow. Death is just a word – ‘one word’ for ‘the act of permanently vanishing from physical existence’. What stays is the name. What is important is how your name is uttered by others once you are gone. Winners are they whose name is taken fondly after they leave. And in that regards it is beyond doubt that Smarajeet is an outright winner far ahead of all of us. His approach to his patients especially to his friends’ parents were completely different from the rest. Smarajit was one among the humblest human being I have ever come across. Even after all the successes he had in life his feet were well grounded and most importantly he was always ready with a big smile on his face. Even among all the adversity he had decided to take on life and challenge it.His huge legacy will continue for ever. Good bye friend....rest in peace before you start another incredible journey!
