The mean placenta thickness in the first second and third trimesters were 12.54±2.09mm 22.68±3.28mm and 34.83±4.57mm respectively with a composite mean placenta thickness of 28.85±8.19mm (mean ± SD). The maximum mean placenta thickness of 40.35±0.29mm was obtained at 39 weeks gestation. Sonographic correlation of placenta thickness with gestational age is a veritable tool for assessing monitoring and predicting pregnancy outcome by clinicians.
