About The Book

Lieutenant Parbhat Moudgil is a twenty years old, Young Officer in the Indian Army. He is rebellious, out-of-the-box thinker who is not averse to taking the easier way out. He is trying to fit into the conservative and old-school Indian Army life, having joined the Twenty Two Assam battalion located in Bhatinda. Under the influence of raging hormones and all the time thinking about food or women, he, however, gets restricted by the routine and discipline of the Army.He is at loggerheads with his Commanding Officer Colonel BK Shukla, who being a safe player, wants to secure his next promotion and dislikes the people like Parbhat who don’t tread the beaten path.Parbhat finds himself in thick soup when he misses a routine parade fall in his battalion, which could lead to a Court Martial and possible jail for him. He is saved from the grim repercussions owing to a fateful intervention, only to land in the midst of a dangerous operation, when the Indian Army is fully mobilised for Operation Parakram in 2001. The quirks of fate again place him in perverse situations with painful tasks. The final twist in the tale occurs when the ‘God’ is lost and the Commanding Officer decides to restore the battalion’s honour by vowing to retrieve it back leading to the unexpected recovery of the treasures stolen from Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s palace, almost two centuries prior.Parbhat’s journey is assisted by Lieutenant Murali, his course mate and the friend, philosopher and misguide, RSVP or Captain Ramesh Shankar Vemboo Prabhakaran, the energetic intelligence officer, Captain Kabir, the cool Adjutant and Lieutenant Colonel Rajnikant, the stern second in command of the battalion.
