Sorath Harappan Ceramics and Identity

<p>This book delves into the intricate relationship between ceramic production ceramic style and social boundaries among urban centers in Chalcolithic Gujarat India. The study focuses on the period spanning the 3rd and 2nd millennia BC when the region was home to both typical Indus Valley Civilization urban sites and several contemporary regional cultures. Among these cultural groups were the Sorath Harappans considered a regional manifestation of the broader Indus culture. While their ceramics display a strong resemblance to those from the core Indus region they also exhibit distinctive features that set them apart. This study seeks to unravel the nature of the relationship between these two cultural groups and the implications it holds for understanding cultural boundaries within Gujarat.</p><p><br></p>
