Sparrow the tramp: A fable for children

Sparrow the tramp is a charming children’s story. The first chapter is delightful with naughty little Posy locking her mamma’s cook into the cellar and spoiling a pitcher of milk by dipping the kittens into it. Sparrow the tramp is the hero of the tale; he is a good-natured lovable well-meaning ne’er do well. Mrs. Silverskin and Gray Whiskers are mischievous but intelligent rats while Mrs. Polly and the barn cat talk a great deal and try to solve the problems. The animals in the tale sparkling and fun helping the children with their daily lives. The book is as delightful as “Heidi� and a very desirable book for all children to read. . THE lamented author of Little Women in her last days read with great delight the manuscript of this little story; and its publication is owed greatly to the interest which she had in it.
