Food production is one of the great challenges facing professionals in the field of Agronomy. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the United Nations (UN) (2021) world population growth could bring an additional 2.5 billion people to urbanized areas by 2050.An increase in per capita income is expected to be associated with this urbanization process in addition to changes in the consumption characteristics of the world's population (SAATH; FACHINELLO 2018).Thus the demand for nutritious food is expected to increase making agriculture a strategic activity in several countries (SENTELHAS et al. 2015) According to the FAO (2013) the availability of agricultural land is concentrated in a few countries with around 90% of land for agricultural expansion located in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa. In Latin America Brazil is a major world food producer with a high potential for expansion (SAATH; FACHINELLO52018).
