Spinoza and Islam

About The Book

The work considers Spinoza's view of the creator of the universe and the extent to which Spinoza's reflections through his book Ethics intersect with Islamic philosophical thought in particular the mystical approach presenting some examples such as Muhyiddin Ibn al-Arabi al-Ghazali and al-Hallaj. The work anticipates that the philosophers' and mystics' idea of God is not just a historical stage in the history of religious thought but rather it is man's developed vision of God that will survive into the future as he will be liberated from the familiar ideas of peoples that bind him to religions.
