In his relentless pursuit of the unique and interesting Ernie Freeman (an affable individual of advanced years) has an unfortunate tendency to nudge his wife Helen toward a state of perpetual irritation. His interests are both too diverse and too scattered for her liking. She is vehemently opposed to his adamant belief in reincarnation and to make matters worse he collects things.In the stifling late-summer heat of a Saskatchewan prairie afternoon Ernie is drawn by his insatiable curiosity to one of his favourite haunts the local waste grounds. It is there that recyclable treasures may be found amid the discarded scrap. However on this particular foray to the dump he encounters far more than he had bargained for. What follows is a terrifying yet exhilarating adventure of discovery trust and reawakening as he is propelled on the wildest emotionally charged roller-coaster ride of his life: a treacherous journey that hauls him from his routine present into a bewildering long-forgotten past that holds clues to an enchanting but yet-to-be-discovered future.
