Star Apple

Chrysophyllum cainito is a tropical tree of the family Sapotaceae. It is found throughout the Caribbean Region Central America northern South America Australia and some countries of Southeast Asia and Africa. Caimito is nutritious containing moderate amounts of calcium phosphorus ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and a good source of anti-oxidants. Alkaloids flavonoids phenols sterols triterpenes saponins tannins and cardiac glycosides were detected during the screening of extract. It has pharmacological activities like Antioxidant Antidiabetic Antimicrobial Antihypertensive Anti-inflammatory Wound healing activity.
