The study entitled Status and Propagation of Arundo donax in Kashmir valley was undertaken with a objective to access its status in the wetlands of Kashmir valley to propagate the species through its rhizomes and to study its biomass yield and carbon density. The uses of Arundo donax have been dated back to 5000 B.C. where the Egyptians used Arundo leaves as lining for underground grain storage. In the 4th Century A.D. Arundo donax was used for medicinal purposes such as a sudorific diuretic anitlactant and for the treatment of dropsy.
