About The Book

This book is the publication of a Master's thesis in its entirety. It describes a clinical study conducted with newborns at the Hearing Health Service of the Pernambuco Clinical Hospital of the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). This study compared the findings of a technique widely used in Neonatal Hearing Screening namely Transient Otoacoustic Emissions with Steady-State Auditory Responses. The protocol used to capture Steady-State Auditory Responses involved white noise stimulation and is innovative in nature. Steady-state auditory responses with white noise proved to be an applicable technique for individuals in this age group and can be included in the Neonatal Hearing Screening test battery to eliminate the possibility of retrocochlear changes.
