Steve the Stickleback

Steve the stickleback follows the journey of a threespined stickleback from his normal environment to a shallow stream where he finds a spot to build his nest and watch over his babies. This fascinating little fi sh can be found from northern Europe to northern Asia as well as north America. Seldom noticed in their normal saltwater habitat they are more likely to be noticed when they come into freshwater streams to mate. There are populations in various lakes that spend their entire lives in fresh water. The fi sh who inspired this story was caught and later released in a small stream in East Providence Rhode Island.
