Sticking with STEM

<p>This reprint aims to illuminate the persistent obstacles hindering students' STEM development and learning in the 21st century particularly those affecting girls. It explores the factors influencing why students enter persist or leave STEM pathways and examines the critical role of educators and family support and the impact of learning environments on successful STEM pathways.</p><p>Both researchers and educators will benefit from the insights provided in this reprint. It enhances our understanding of the mechanisms that lead children and adults to or away from pursuing STEM roles. This reprint also addresses targeted support measures and diagnostic tools for at-risk groups such as girls and students from lower socio-economic backgrounds. It presents strategies to make STEM fields more attractive and accessible emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches gender-sensitive teaching and building positive STEM capital.</p>
