About The Book

The story takes place geographically in Esan south of Nigeria. It's a book which drags us into that part of Africa where the young narrator (Ẹhizoya) makes us understand not only his pain as a result of his grandmother's death but also his sentiments and his childhood fantasies - his friends the exciting New Yam Festival the dance of masquerades the cultivation of land the family reunion and the future that will come. It's a book that helps us jump into the pool of our own past memories our infant dreams already forgotten along the way as we grow older and face the different challenges of life. Yes we can grow up but not all of our childhood experiences/fantasies will ever grow with us. For some memories we have never really said goodbye. Book was first published on July 10 2009 and republished in October 2015. Second Edition in 2016
