Stimulating innovation for a Non-Governmental Organization

About The Book

One of the main reasons why innovation has been on the rise in recent decades is because of the need for competitive advantage in the market. Society is going through a period of recognizing the importance of innovation and adapting to this culture. This book discusses this issue and relates it to the Third Sector so that it can disseminate the view that innovation should also be included in the context of non-profit organizations through for example social entrepreneurship. In the third sector innovation is important in order to find new ways of meeting social demands. In other words the focus is not economic. In this way an innovation process in a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) is configured from the perspective of social entrepreneurship. To this end participant observation interviews and document analysis were carried out at an NGO in the city of Juiz de Fora/MG - Brazil. As a result we identified the need to design a process to channel the ideas that come to the organization and based on this we presented a project proposal to stimulate and capture innovative ideas from society.
