About The Book
Description
Author
Stolen Legacy is a book written by George James in 1954. The book explores the history of ancient Greek philosophy and argues that much of the knowledge and ideas attributed to the Greeks were actually borrowed or stolen from ancient Egypt. James argues that Greek philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle were heavily influenced by the teachings of ancient Egyptian priests and scholars who were the true founders of Western philosophy. He traces the history of Egyptian philosophy from the teachings of the god Thoth to the development of the Mystery Schools which were centers of learning and education in ancient Egypt. James also discusses the role of Greek scholars in the destruction of the Library of Alexandria which contained many ancient texts and documents from Egypt and other civilizations. He argues that the destruction of the Library and the suppression of knowledge by the Greeks and later by the Roman Empire led to the loss of much of the knowledge and wisdom of ancient civilizations. Overall Stolen Legacy is a controversial book that challenges the traditional narrative of the origins of Western philosophy. While some scholars have criticized James arguments and conclusions the book remains a thought-provoking exploration of the history of philosophy and the transmission of knowledge across civilizations.
