This book reflects on the Lesotho’s experiences towards regulating traditional midwifery practice. Various stakeholders including Registered Nurses and Midwives members of the Lesotho Universal Medicine Men and Herbalist Council and the traditional midwives express their views and perceptions towards traditional midwifery practice provided to the community in the far to reach areas of Lesotho where the pregnant woman has to walk a very long distance to get to the nearest health facility. The stakeholders also indicate the roles of each role player towards improving traditional midwifery practice and what needs to be done to improve the traditional midwifery practice in order to ensure safe care and best practices. It further elaborates on the perceptions of these various role players towards regulation of the traditional midwifery practice and the strategies that can be used in Lesotho to improve regulation of traditional midwifery practice. The author made reference to the experiences gathered in various studies conducted in country and across the globe.
