An Investigation of Needlework in Groups is concerned with the current (media) phenomenon of knitting in public. On the one hand its aim is to show who belongs to knitting circles. On the other hand its focus is to discuss whether knitting in groups is an oppositional tendency towards individualisation and/or serves as social support for the individual. Therefore theoretical concepts by authors who concentrate their research on individualisation and everyday conduct of life are taken into consideration. The discussion itself is based on methodical results that are examined via an online survey and problem-centred interviews.Thesis in German
