<p><strong>Strings</strong> is a gritty intense and disturbing narrative that dives into the mind and upbringing of a serial killer who refers to himself as <em>The Jackal</em>. From a young age the narrator is shaped by severe abuse and twisted lessons from their parents-parents who seem to be murderers themselves. These early teachings instill in him a worldview centered on <strong>control manipulation and survival</strong>.</p><p></p><p>The story begins with the discovery of an elderly woman's decomposing body in her home which leads authorities to a horrifying scene: <strong>multiple human bodies hung and staged in the basement</strong> signaling the presence of a calculating and methodical serial killer. As the investigation unfolds a complex web of past trauma systemic failures and brutal revenge begins to reveal itself.</p><p></p><p>The killer appears to be targeting individuals involved in <strong>child protective services law enforcement education and the legal system</strong>-people who presumably failed to protect him or someone he loved.
