This book is about Flavonoid plant pigments.They are polyphenolics having Benzo -g-pyrone (chromone) moiety.They are found in berries red cabbage onion Parseley Kale etc. having antioxidantantibacterial anti viral & anti inflammatory properties . A diet rich in flavonoids leads to a reduced risk of several different cancers. The book describes the results of structural elucidation of some new flavonoid pigments which are non glycosidic in nature . Chapter -I describes the two isomeric pigments Lepisatim -A and -B extracted from the plant Lepidium Sativum . The constitution of Lepisatim -A is finally proved by synthesis and then by spectral data . Chapter -II deals with the revised new structure proposed to the pigment Rivularin which is extracted from the plant Scutellaria rivularis .Rivularin is finally proved by colour reactions spectral studies & finally by synthesis.
