About the Book: This book is about Flavonoid plant pigments. They are polyphenolics having Benzo -g-pyrone (chromone) moiety. They are found in berries red cabbage onion Parsley Kale etc. having antioxidant antibacterial anti-viral & and inflammatory properties. A diet rich in flavonoids leads to a reduced risk of several different cancers. The book describes the results of structural elucidation of some new flavonoid pigments which are non-glycosidic in nature. Chapter -I describes the two isomeric pigments Lepisatim -A and -B extracted from the plant Lepidium Sativum. The constitution of Lepisatim -A is finally proved by synthesis and then by spectral data. Chapter -II deals with the revised new structure proposed for the pigment Rivularin which is extracted from the plant Scutellaria rivularis .Rivularin is finally proved by color reactions spectral studies & finally synthesis. This book is useful for early researchers in Flavonoid Chemistry.
