This book is about how the author Shiva Chandra Jha got the first inspiration of going to the US and pursue his higher studies without any financial backup. He worked earned and studied in the University of California Berkeley in 1950s. In these six years how he worked hard and what he had to face due to his socialistic views in the US all have been narrated by the author himself. Apart from this you get a nice glimpse of social politcal events in 1950s places of interest in US and what sea voyage was like in those days. He came back to India in 1955 and started his social and political life.
