Student-Athletes Education

About The Book

The quality of the offered education to Student-Athletes (SAs) does not limit to only responding to their learning needs; but also to their effort and time limitations as well as the psychological needs that result from their sporting commitments and attendance modalities. Besides as ambassadors of their teams SAs should be fostered the behavioral and leadership skills that help them represent themselves their teams schools and countries. So the quality of education offered to SAs extends beyond the cognitive and behavioral education offered to regular students to other domains of skills. The study revealed that a comprehensive framework for education and job readiness should encompass knowledge and skills in at least four major domains: core academic skills; cross-cutting capabilities; behavioral skills and education and career navigation skills. The study starts by establishing an integrated vision of education and job readiness and presents some instances of how these domains and their unique features connect to crucial outcomes. A greater knowledge of how these domains interact has consequences for evaluating readiness and giving better feedback to SAs.
