Adhatoda zeylanica Medic. is a sub-herbaceous and evergreen medicinal plant viz. indigenous to India. It is commonly known as Adhatoda Adulsa Vasaka etc. Since 200 years roots and leaves of this plant are being used to cure cough rheumatism malaria fever chronic fever intrinsic haemorrhage asthma leprosy skin diseases piles and many respiratory disorders. It is also reported as an expectorant abortificiant antimicrobial antitussive and anticancerous. Hence this plant has great demand in market in the form of crude drugs.
