About The Book

This book is on Cryptosporidium an intracellular and extra cytoplasmic enteropathogen. Cryptosporidium is a protozoan parasite which affects gastrointestinal tract of wide variety of animals including mammals reptiles and birds. The protozoan parasite is transmitted by faeco-oral route and environmental oocyst contamination may have role in precipitation of the disease. Cryptosporidium is mainly immunosuppressive and causes diarrhoea in neonates leading to neonatal mortality and production losses eventually. Diagnosis of Cryptosporidium can be done on the basis of conventional methods but molecular characterization may help in species identification. Limited information is available on the drugs which can reduce oocyst shedding and in-turn environmental contamination. This book includes studies on prevalence molecular characterization and finding a suitable therapeutic regimen for Cryptosporidium in goat kids. This book will be helpful for researchers veterinary graduates and academicians working on zoonotic parasites.
