Studies on metal chelates of pyrazolin based schiff bases

About The Book

The effort summarized preparation of metal chelates containing 4-carboxaldehyde-2-pyrazolin-5-one Schiff bases as ligand. Structural and spectroscopic properties of Schiff bases as well as metal chelates were studied on the basis of NMR (13C) spectra IR spectrum and elemental analyses. All metal chelates further investigated by means of thermogravimetry electronic spectra and magnetic measurements. TGA along with magnetic study support the geometry of metal chelates. Antimicrobial screening of Schiff bases and its metal chelates suggest that all the synthesized ligands and their metal chelates affect the growth of microorganisms and resulted into inhibitory effect. The antimicrobial activity of the metal chelates was found higher than that of the corresponding Schiff bases.
